Rétromobile 2013 Paris
Retromobile, France’s largest classic car show, opens its doors from February 6 to 10, 2013. In addition to the show, there were two auctions held by Artcurial and Bonhams. Movendi gained an overview of the market and met with some of its customers and fellow dealers.
The range of rare and very high-quality vehicles on offer is traditionally always very large at France’s leading classic car show. As every year, well-known dealers such as Lukas Hüni, Gregor Fiskens, and Hall & Hall brought rare and valuable exhibits to Paris. The atmosphere was good, and Rétromobile once again demonstrated its ability to attract a global audience.
Artcurial held an auction of around 100 classic cars at the exhibition center. The offerings ranged from a Renault 4 CV, which fetched €8,340, to a Talbot Lago T150C, which sold for €1,462,000 including buyer’s premium. Artcurial generated a total of €14,602,848. The one-off Fiat Otto Vue Vignale remained unsold. Movendi traded this unique vehicle in 2007.
During the Rétromobile in Paris, the Bonhams auction house also held an auction at the Grand Palais. The selection was large, but the quality of many of the vehicles did not quite match the excellent setting. The range of motorcycles on offer was enormous, and the auctioneer brought down the hammer almost every minute. The highlight of the Bonhams auction was a Bugatti Type 54 Grand Prix, which remained unsold.
We would like to thank Iris and Jasper Bitter, who once again served the best coffee at their Classic Heuer watch stand and always offered a comfortable seat after many hours on our feet.
