A rare and highly sought-after 1958 Aston Martin DB2\/4 MK III has arrived in our showroom. Between 1957 and 1959, only 462 of these elegant 2+2 sedans were produced. These figures alone make the 1958 MK III one of the rarer Aston Martin road cars of that era. The MK III, which was unveiled at the 1957 Geneva Motor Show, represented the final and most advanced version of the DB2\/4 platform. With its elegant, wing-shaped radiator grille\u2014borrowed from the DB3S sports car\u2014and a redesigned dashboard, the MK III immediately stood out from its predecessors. Although production ceased in 1959 with the introduction of the DB4, this elegant design combination endured and eventually became a hallmark of the DB series. There were also significant changes under the hood of the new MK III. Thanks to Tadek Marek\u2019s revisions to W.O. Bentley\u2019s 2.9-liter inline-six engine\u2014which included redesigned intake manifolds, high-lift camshafts, and a revised crankshaft\u2014the MK III\u2019s power output was increased to 162 Horse Power. According to a 1959 test report in *Road & Track* magazine, the MK III was undoubtedly \u201ca car for connoisseurs.\u201d The vehicle with chassis number AM300\/3\/1632 was delivered on July 19, 1958, through the renowned Aston Martin dealer H W Motors to The Eveton Stud in London and registered under the license plate \u201c100 GPD.\u201d According to a copy of the factory build sheet, the vehicle was painted Pacific Blue, fitted with off-white Connolly leather, and equipped with an overdrive and front disc brakes. The MK III changed hands for the first time sometime between 1959 and mid-1966, when it was purchased by a certain C. R. Boast. According to the production record, which traces the car\u2019s maintenance history through 1966, Boast returned the vehicle to an Aston Martin dealer in August of that year to have it overhauled and reassembled. Little is known about the car\u2019s subsequent owners. It was registered in the Netherlands in 2004. The current owner purchased this Aston Martin from the specialist \u201cThe Houtkamp Collection.\u201d At the time of sale, the restored DB2\/4 MK III was painted in Aston Martin Green and featured a light brown interior\u2014a combination it has retained to this day.
